Our 9-12 students have been spending every day 3 in the fitness center with M. Paul. The 9-10's have been learning/reviewing fundamental movement patterns essential to building a solid foundation in any weight room. The 11/12's have been exploring a variety of movements and concepts such as the Trap Bar Deadlift, various single-leg movements, and how we can build posterior strength with a 2:1 pull-to-push ratio. The fitness center is available to all 9-12 students during the lunch hour with parental permission (a google form was sent in october), we encourage them to take advantage of this opportunity!
Mme Coté's High School Robotics class has moved on from block coding drones and creating 2D & 3D designs to type programming in C++. But not without having first learned the basics of a successful code! Students are marrying concepts learned in the first term with basic electronic circuits and proper syntax to create more complex circuits powered by an Arduino microcontroller.
Mme Còté's Physical Education classes from grades 1-6 are wrapping up Term1 with their first endurance run of the year. We count how many laps the students can run/walk in a set amount of time; grade 1/2s for 5 minutes, grade 3/4s for 8 minutes and grade 5/6s for 10 minutes. Each student gave it their all! Pictured are grade 1/2 students counting their partners' laps with popsicle sticks. Next term, we will be learning athletic movements of various sports. This will allow these budding athletes to share in team experiences while learning sport-specific actions. First up is volleyball!
The art room has been buzzing with creativity and exploration this year! Our amazing students have been learning to respectfully use a variety of art tools and mediums while diving into the elements of art through painting, pottery, oil pastels, charcoal, and so much more! From beautiful Halloween projects to meaningful Remembrance Day pieces, students have been learning new techniques and are expressing their creativity in thoughtful ways. Now, as the winter season approaches, we’ll begin to channel our artistic energy into creating beautiful decor for the upcoming winter concert!
In our music classes this week, we are in full “winter concert mode”! We’ve been rehearsing our songs in preparation for the big concerts on December 17 (k-6) and 18 (7-12). We can’t wait to share our musical growth with you all!
We are proud to announce that the 7/8 Girls Tripleball team has won their championship! Congratulations!
