Give a person a fish, they'll eat for a day. Tell Mr T's 'Plein Air' class that we are going to make fires and culinary art will be made!
Mme Kirsten’s grade ½ class did a Thanksgiving writing activity on things they are thankful for. We’ve also been working on creating patterns this fall. This was a fun activity to create patterns with objects found outside!
10th grade students in Enjeux géographiques honed their understanding of human and urban geography. Learners made observations and inferences about the culture and history of St. Pierre-Jolys and analyzed how its population interacts with its environment.
Did you know that Canada's name has indigenous roots? Canada, or kanata, is an Iroquian word meaning "village" or "settlement". The students in Mme Nadine's 3/4 class have started to learn about the provinces and territories of Canada. We are learning in many different ways including making puzzles and playing games on the Viewsonic. Soon, students will be doing their own research about each province and territory and sharing their knowledge with the class with posters.
The Youth BIOlab Jeunesse at St. Boniface Hospital Albrechtsen Research Centre is a fun place for students and teachers to dive into real biomedical science at an amazing research facility. On Oct 11, the grade 9 (9B) class attended the St. Boniface Research Centre to build upon their knowledge about Mitosis and cell division. The students were required to observe, then separate live cells using special enzymes from the collagen that binds them together. Our students used precise measuring equipment and relied on previous learned mathematical and scientific concepts to achieve our objective for the day. We would like to thank the St.Boniface research centre, the Red River Valley School Division as well as our parent community for their efforts in making this trip possible for our students.
