ABSTRACT

“Impact on Student Learning: Third Grade Mathematics ” by Latriece Platt is a project that demonstrates a teacher’s ability to tailor a series of lessons to meet the needs of diverse learners in a classroom setting. The goal of the project is to improve the overall learning experience of students at every level. Educators have the challenge of creating lessons and activities that are impactful for a wide variety of students. This project exhibits how an educator can achieve this goal. This is done by collecting and analyzing data, then applying pedagogical practices to advance instruction. The data is collected through various types of assessments and work samples. First, a pre-assessment was administered to show the pupil’s prior knowledge and initial understanding of the concepts. Next, the lessons were delivered and homework samples were gathered. Several informal assessments were also given to help provide feedback to guide instruction. Finally, a post-assessment was administered. The outcome of the post-assessment in comparison to the pre-assessment demonstrated the teacher’s ability to positively impact students learning.
