ABSTRACT

In today’s world, technological integration in the school system is not only a luxury but rather a necessity. The lack of access to this type of integration in rural communities is staggering. The lack of technological skills puts individuals at a disadvantage in the race to higher education, as well as the race to the workforce. For this reason, Operation Surpass the Pack was founded to help specific disenfranchised communities of the thumb of Michigan. This platform was used to enhance the technological integration in the preschool setting and advancing into late high school. By providing these children resources such as personal laptops and tablets to improve their technological skills, we are setting them up for a chance to be competitive in the occupational searches as well as the collegiate realm. With the quickly evolving state of technology, developing these skills from the onset of grade school will help them show mastery with any evolution in adulthood. In essence, Operation Surpass the Pack seeks to break the reciprocal cycle of rising poverty and low socioeconomic status in the community that is under-served.
