ABSTRACT

Blossom International Academy has been running for many years and has been doing its best to provide every child with the most effective and efficient education in order for them to reach their fullest potential and succeed in college. However, they are still at a disadvantage. They do not have the experiences of creativity and the arts. This puts disabled children, mentally ill children, and children who come from poverty at a disadvantage as they do not have the arts to assist them in their development and education. This resulted in the proposal “To Be Creative.” This proposal will help children express their creativity, gain skills and abilities, and receive experiences that will positively impact their future. Over 80% of children at Blossom International Academy are lacking the abilities to move on to the next grade and are delayed in many aspects of their development. The lack of creative opportunities and materials is taking a toll on children and is negatively impacting them and their future. “To Be Creative” allows children to receive these opportunities and fulfill these milestones that every child needs to achieve. Reggio Emilio schools use this idea of incorporating the arts into the curriculum and classroom and their children have succeeded in a variety of ways. “To Be Creative” will provide children with an assortment of skills to help them progress in all areas of development and practice imagination and experimentation as they invent new ways to create art. “To Be Creative” will prepare the most at-risk children to succeed when they move on to the next phase of their life and begin a college career.
