High-Quality Materials (H.Q.M.)

Major: Early Childhood Studies

ABSTRACT

High-quality materials (H.Q.M.) should be found in every classroom to support children's learning and developmental differences. Funding is required for non-profit early childhood programs to develop and maintain high-quality learning environments. In order to build and maintain a high-quality preschool program, classrooms need supplies and materials. The teacher uses these supplies and materials to create and share developmentally appropriate lessons with the children. The children also use supplies and materials to explore, discover, and meet their current development level.

One thousand one hundred at-risk children rely on the service and quality program that Psalm Pointe Academy has delivered for over sixty-five years. In order to continue serving the families of these children, funding is needed for classroom supplies and materials. This proposal, H.Q.M., could provide funding for sixty-five early childhood classrooms, including the education of many low-income children. This equates to over five hundred and fifty low-income families receiving a quality education. Funding supplies and materials at Psalm Pointe Academy can help to bridge the socioeconomic gap between young learners. Psalm Pointe Academy offers free preschool to low-income families, single-parent homes, and other at-risk children. These children need to experience high-quality and material-rich environments to bridge the gap between socioeconomic statuses.
