Wellness Wednesdays

The fictitious child care and preschool program is named Leaps and Bounds. The program is requesting a grant to receive funding for a wellness curriculum. A wellness curriculum would bring awareness to healthy habits in the students’ lives. Leaps and Bounds is requesting the grant for food resources, staff training, and supplies. “Wellness Wednesdays” would be integrated into Leaps and Bounds’ current weekly schedule. Within “Wellness Wednesdays,” all classrooms would participate in “rainbow eating.” The classrooms would record the color of the food they ate throughout the day at Leaps and Bounds with a fun, educational worksheet. The Preschool 1 and Preschool 2 classrooms (ages 2.5 to 4 years old) will also participate in rotating centers to learn how to check in on their bodies and emotions. This addition to the curriculum aims to start a conversation and educate children about how to nourish their bodies properly and the importance of talking about mental wellness. Students will understand the importance of taking care of their physical and mental health. The stigma against mental health needs to end, and the outcome of this program will start the next generation on the right track.
