ABSTRACT

“Impact on Student Learning: What Time is it?” consists of a pre-assessment, multiple lessons of the same content and a post assessment. Conducting a pre-assessment allows the teacher to see what the students already know as well as where there may be a lack of understanding in all students in the classroom. Teachers can then use the data from the pre-assessment to formulate structured lessons that will promote growth and understanding. Lessons of various forms were conducted to help bridge the gap in understanding. Students had the opportunity to participate in visual activities where they could watch and listen, activities where they were physically completing tasks, paper and pencil activities, and a computer activity that was completed as a whole group. After multiple lessons were completed on this topic, a post assessment was given allowing students to show their growth and understanding in the content area. After reviewing and comparing pre-assessment and post assessment results, it is evident that the lessons, focused on the areas where growth was needed, had a positive impact on students’ learning.
