CURRICULUM Materials Grant Proposal

Major: Early Childhood Studies

Hometown: Washington, MI

ABSTRACT

According to data from the National Teacher and Principal Survey, on average teachers spend $479 dollars for classroom materials (Chokski, 2018). Materials that teachers need are paper, pencils, crayons, and markers. Providing these materials will help children become creative in art and to better express themselves. Curriculum materials will also be included to guide the children in their activities. For example, if teachers are preparing a science activity for their students, they will need various kinds of curriculum materials for that set activity. While teachers want to help their students, it takes a toll on teachers who normally do not get reimbursed. Here at Jackie’s Little Learners, providing a budget for teachers is essential so that the classroom is prepared for learning and student success. Materials used in the classroom promotes developmental in all areas such as literacy, mathematics, science, art, music/movement, fine motor skills, and problem-solving skills. The plan includes all materials needed for each classroom. Because there are little supplies currently available, there are also very little activities planned for the children. With curriculum based materials, children will increase their kindergarten readiness. Without the appropriate curriculum children will decline developmentally rather than succeed. Materials needed at Jackie’s Little Learners are manipulatives, dramatic play area materials, art materials, math materials, and science materials. Using these materials every day will allow teachers to observe and assess their students and help teachers improve curriculum to their students with the best teacher based and child directed activities.
