ABSTRACT

Brilliant Little Learners is a Reggio-Emilia early childhood center in Macomb County. Their curriculum strives to use nature to its fullest extent and allow the children to explore, learn, and grow using the world around them. The center is attached to the local family resource center. Thus, their outdoor play areas are available for use of the public after hours. Consequently, there have been times where materials have been broken or are missing. An early childhood centers main priority is to keep the children in their care safe, but with so many broken materials this is not possible. Brilliant Little Learners is looking for financial support that will benefit the health, safety, and well-being of the children in their care. Therefore, they are writing a grant called “Safety First” asking for the funder to supply them with finances to replace the fencing around all of the playground spaces, purchase sheds with locks that can store all of their personal play materials, and replace broken and stolen materials. These changes will not only benefit the children at Brilliant Little Learners, but the entire surrounding community.
