ABSTRACT
The key to successful organizational change is the presence of a learning and supportive organizational culture built on strategy and structure. Understanding how culture drives change and the need to tap into an organization’s culture is key to the success of positive and lasting change. The eight-step process demonstrated by John Kotter identifies each stage in the change process and provides a tool for successful change to take place. Currently, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) is going through a change process related to the Performance Review Process (PLM). The current program in place is dated and presents challenges for a new culture entering the workforce. The change is designed to re-align corporate vision with the organizational culture. This case analysis of the Fiat/Chrysler PLM change process emphasizes each of Kotter's stages and the importance of organizational culture in implementing successful change.
