ABSTRACT
There is an increase of young adults with mild cognitive and learning disabilities in our communities that are not able to work a computer, write a resume or get a job. The purpose of this grant proposal project is to help and support young adults with mild cognitive and learning disabilities in the Metro Detroit area. Young adults with a mild cognitive and learning disabilities have great hopes, but less advantages. This grant will appropriately prepare 25 young adults for jobs by bringing in technology and training that will teach young adults with a disability to apply themselves in various fields. The Detroit Disability Center of Technology Summer Program will give young adults with a disability the preparation and the skills in starting a job by introducing them to job applications, the use of technology, and building social skills. Young people with a disability will be placed in the right position where they will thrive, and will also be set up for success.
