The issue of student’s attendance and interest in school paramount in any district. The grant proposal framework focuses on ensuring their attendance while maintaining their interests, but also provides vocational skills. The objective of “Fine Arts for the Heart” is to bring more tools, such as a wider variety of drawing and painting media, a multitrack recorder studio bundle, a classroom set of iPads for beat making, and soundproofing material for students to be able to showcase their talent, improve their self-esteem, cultural exposure, creativity, and appreciation for diversity. In order to achieve this, the fine arts classes need to be adequately equipped with the ideal materials to make this successful. The connection between fine arts and attendance was recognized when a class began creating rhymes to express how they felt about school, to those rhymes they began to add beats as well. The longer this project was being presented, the higher the increase in attendance got until classes had all students present. The comparison of attendance pre-rhymes project versus the attendance post-rhymes project indicated that when the interests of the students are maintained it has a positive impact on the attendance.
