ABSTRACT
At present, the church does not live fully in communion with the homeless population of the world. In order to better understand how the church can practice living in community with the homeless population, the author explores three Christian outputs. The first is through Scripture, where the author discusses a passage from the Gospel of Luke, a passage from Romans, a passage from Acts, and a passage from Isaiah. The second is through theology. The author attempts to look at the problem through different lenses of theology including hospitality, kenosis, and the theology of feminist liberation. Finally, the author looks into Christian history in order to see how past Christians have attempted to address this problem. These Christians include; a ministry in Portland, OR, a ministry in Atlanta, GA, and a ministry in Seattle, WA. This exploration hopes to determine the course of action the church should take in relation to living in community with the homeless population.
