ABSTRACT
All around the world, children are lacking in their reading skills, and getting further behind in their development of literacy skills. What this means is that schools need to have a better reading systems in their classrooms, to allow for children to explore their enjoyment of reading books. This project focuses on the importance of reading in young children’s lives, and why schools need to have a variety of different books. The current grant proposal for Let’s Get Reading describes how children in infant rooms through Pre-K classrooms at The Learning Tree Child Care Center can have more opportunities with books. In this proposal, all the reasons of why this grant is needed will be addressed, and what this grant will be used for. Research by the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE), states why having good libraries in classrooms advance children in their literacy skills. The NCTE’s recommended resources will be used to purchase materials with the grant funds. This grant will impact children’s learning by equipping their classroom libraries.
