ABSTRACT
“Impact of Fine Arts in Education” documents the need for Fine Arts in education. Studies show that there are both academic and non-academic benefits to participation in Fine Arts. Non-academic benefits are self-esteem, confidence, cultural exposure, creativity, and improved emotional expression. Academic benefits are improved cognition, increased communication skills, understanding and organizational skills, enriched verbal, reading and math skills, analyzing and problem solving. There are multiple studies proving the reduction of high-risk behavior by students who take part in Fine Arts programs. A decrease in high-risk behaviors will also reduce the number of in school and out of school suspensions. Funding and support for Fine Arts will serve the disadvantaged students of Lasenby Learning Academy with art supplies and instruments. The goal is to make sure that there is no lack of supplies for students and those parents and families will not have to worry about out of pocket expenses for items or child participation.
