ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study is to examine the correlation between team building and goal achievement. Between January 2020 and April 2020, eight participants from a previously low performing team were reassigned to a leader who emphasizes teamwork and has a reputation for high performance. To better understand team integration and group development, this case study employed observation methodologies to address these research questions: 1) Can the style of the leader impact team development? 2) Do teams who work cohesively achieve goals at a more consistent level? and 3) What is the impact to each individual member of a cohesive team? The results indicate the originally low performing team members experienced an increased level of support, a boosted morale and increased productivity resulting in higher employee and client satisfaction. The knowledge acquired from the study was utilized to assist team leaders with a recent realignment of all resources within the workgroup.
