ABSTRACT
Throughout history, the Bible has been one of the most criticized and scrutinized books written. Yet because of the divine inspiration of Scripture and its inerrancy in both theology and history, the Bible has remained an authoritative text for the Christian faith. By using these terms, Scripture is consequently being designated as a collection of books ultimately authored by God as the Holy Spirit lead and used human agency to write down divine truth while allowing for distinguishable human writing styles and vocabularies as a result of not implementing verbal dictation. Notably, this foundational view of Scripture needs to be properly understood, for not only does one’s beliefs concerning the Bible’s origins and sufficiency arguably affect how someone interprets the text, but a rejection of this view can legitimize the doubting and denouncing of any theological or historical aspect of Scripture regardless of its importance or triviality. In order to defend and elaborate upon this, sources explaining the evidences for the canonicity and sufficiency of the Bible alongside specific biblical passages and corresponding commentaries have been carefully studied.
