This grant proposal is for the program named Diamond’s Little Gems (DLG) that will be Digging Gems of Success. The idea behind DLG came from the parents of Lawton Elementary school who do not want to wait for quality education till their other children are old enough to attend elementary school. The purpose of DLG is to supply a high quality education for the siblings of the elementary students with preschool for those younger siblings. DLG is seeking $8,000 in funding to purchase furniture, materials, books, and curriculum/assessment materials. Digging Gems of Success begins with purchasing furniture and materials and placing them in a spare classroom. The local school district will pay the salaries for two teachers for the new preschool, although DGS will take part in the interview process. The next step would be to host interviews for the two teachers’ positions for the preschool classroom with Lawton Elementary. This process will ensure that the students in the DLG program will get the best resources based on research. DLG will carry out this preschool program for those younger siblings, so the families’ preschoolers would no longer have to wait to begin their education.
