ABSTRACT
Teaching preschool children and helping them learn the basics about all subjects is enjoyable, but the subjects that always have the least amount of supplies are math and science. In the city of Flint there are some students who struggle with the math and science concepts because the school simply cannot afford the basic hands-on learning materials. This proposal for the SMARTEES grant is to provide the supplies for students at Coolidge Head Start to develop their educational goals and enhance their educational needs and development. These engaging materials will also help in preparing them for academics in future years of schooling. The majority of the families we serve are from low income households and are very well deserving of an equal opportunity for a quality education. Because recent initiatives highlight the need to better support preschool aged children’s math and science learning, the present grant proposal will positively impact the children at Coolidge Head Start.
