ABSTRACT
The “Fun Literacy” initiative is to improve young children’s reading levels. The Fun Literacy reading program will provide short-term goals and one-to-one reading assistance to struggling readers. The funding is requested for staff training along with purchasing the required books to distribute to each student in our Fun Literacy reading program. The pre-assessment will allow teachers to address reading level difficulties with teacher training from the Institute for Multi-Sensory Education Orton-Gillingham. Children need opportunities to practice their reading while using many different types of reading level books and Fun Literacy is seeking to make that happen. The goal is to increase each student’s reading level and help make students feel excited about reading. These goals will be assessed using the IMSE’s assessment methods as part of the program.
