Science: The Planets to Scale
Students scaled the size of the planets in our solar system down to 1/2000 their actual size and converted to centimeters, then found an object to represent the planet and created model of the surface terrain. Students also created posters with facts about their planets.
Math:
For our first Project in 6th grade was Area & Surface Area. This was important as they worked on planets and making models of planets. Below are the essential questions that were asked during this project:
How can we use math to solve real-world problems involving two and three-dimensional figures?
How can area and volume of unfamiliar figures and shapes be measured or calculated?
