The Solution to the Eco-Mystery

5th graders became environmental detectives and ran tests for acid rain, dissolved oxygen, sediment, and bioindicators to determine what was causing the fish to die in the Grey Area. They developed a hypothesis based on their findings and presented evidence for their case.

Eco Mystery Book Review

The students wrote a book review of an Eco Mystery book (fiction) that they read throughout the project. The book review includes a summary of the book (including an analysis of the visual elements) as well as explanations of what they liked, what they disliked, and whether you would recommend the book to others.

Whole Number Multiplication & Division

By the time the students finish this unit they should be able to:

1. Multiply multi-digit whole numbers

2. Estimate whole number quotients with multi-digit whole numbers

3. Determine whole-number quotients of multi-digit whole numbers

4. Apply multi-digit multiplication and division to area and volume
