Rocks, Soils, and Landforms

Students studied the effects of weathering and erosion on Earth's surface and how these processes help form different landforms. Student then applied that knowledge to design and test erosion prevention plans for fictional clients.

For this first project the 4th graders investigated Factors and Multiples. We used area of rectangles as a way to help us connect these concepts to something that we would use in the real world. Below are the essential questions that were asked throughout this project:

• What does it mean if a number is a factor or a multiple of a whole number?

• How do you know if a number is prime or composite?

• How are area and multiplication related?

• How are multiplication and division related?
