Q3:

What impacts does the weather have on my clothing choice and outside activities?

The kindergarten students were studying trees and weather. During the tree's section the students had the opportunity to walk over to Arbor Park next to the school and observe the mature trees there. While observing the students learned about the five sense that you use to observe objects. They had the opportunity to use the five sense on the trees they were observing, they were able to touch, look and smell the bark. They were able to listen to the animals or objects they heard around or in the tree. They learned that another sense was taste but that this sense would not be an appropriate sense to use during this activity.

When the students got back to school they took what they learned observing the trees and converted that knowledge into a picture in their science notebook.

Student learned about the different types of weather that can be seen outside. They learned how to determine if the weather is sunny, partly cloudy, overcast, rainy or sunny. They helped graph the weather for the month of April. Along with the daily graph, they learned about different types of severe weather that could occur in different parts of the country. After learning about the different types of severe weather, they recorded what that weather looked like in their science notebooks.

Lastly the students learned about the different seasons and the types of clothing they would wear during that season.

As their final project they made My Weather Book's to be able to take home and teach their families about the different types of weather and seasons that our community can experience.
