In this project, students learned about a threatened ecosystem of their choice. They gathered and analyzed information about their ecosystem to understand how it benefits human well-being as well as the threats it faces. Then they developed and refined an action plan that they communicated to the public through a multimedia campaign. Below are a couple of multimedia examples that students created.
Student 1 - Kelp Forests
Student 2 - The Alpine Steppe
Students will have to choose an ecosystem for which to focus their project.
Students will conduct research to determine what the most prevalent threats are to that ecosystem,
Students will suggest ways in which to mitigate the threats to that ecosystem and identify drawbacks to that solution.
Aside from their ecosystem threat/solution oral presentation, students will also create a board game based on research they've conducted throughout their unit.
STUDENT EXAMPLES *will be updated following project deadline*
For the 4th Quarter, the students studied the Medieval Mesoamerican Kingdoms and worked to understand how the different environments impacted the individual Kingdoms. They took that and applied it to an Environmental issue happening today and created posters. Click on the hyperlink to view some of the posters created!
