The School Store
Interviewers: Maddax Salas and Ayati Jend
What is it?
The school store is a shop run by the student ambassadors that provides students with supplies like mechanical pencils, Post-Its, paper, and stickers. It is located outside of guidance and is available on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 7:45 to 8:00 AM.
What do the Funds Go Towards?
The student ambassadors put their funds towards the teachers of our school. Recently there was a teacher dinner that took place prior to a teacher viewing of the play, High School Musical, run by MMS. The money raised from the store went into a prepaid dinner that all teachers had the ability to attend. The students acted as waiters to make an even better experience for the teachers.
Why do the Student Ambassadors Enjoy It?
Students Carissa Gulati and Rachel Perilstein are student ambassadors that run the school store. They told us that the school store was created because last year there were many incidents of students losing or forgetting their school supplies, and the school store is a good way for those students to purchase any necessary items. They also said it's a fun experience running the store, and it makes them feel good about helping out their peers. Rachel Perilstein told us, “We get a chance to help students out and sometimes they don’t have all the materials they need. It's also fun.”
