Millburn Middle School hosts many fun activities throughout the year, and the teachers are always enthusiastic while participating in the fun! Every year, the teachers at Millburn Middle School compete for the honor of “Best Costume” on Halloween. Teachers compete in teams that are by grade or department. Those who compete are required to submit a photo by 8 AM on October 31st and later that day, students vote on which costume they like the best. This year, 5 teams of teachers vied for the coveted title.
Mrs. Nelson and Mrs. Podolak, the sixth and seventh grade French teachers, dressed in baguette suits.
The music department competed as different characters from the movie Shrek, and their costumes included Lord Farquad, Fiona, Shrek, the gingerbread man, the dragon, and the fairy godmother.
The eighth grade teachers dressed up as characters from Nintendo’s Super Mario. Teachers were dressed as a variety of characters, including Wario, a question mark, Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Diddy Kong, Yoshi, the blue and red halves of a Nintendo Switch controller, a banana, Bowser, King Boo, Donkey Kong, Toad, Toadette, a GameBoy, and a star.
Gym teachers were found dressing up as characters from the Barbie movie, including Barbie and Ken.
Teachers in the related arts department were dressed as different characters from the Harry Potter Series, and their costumes included Hedwig the owl, Severus Snape, Mrs. McGonagall, Hermione Granger, Albus Dumbledore, Rubeus Hagrid, and a witch.
After a close competition, the gym teachers took the title of “Best Costume” and they will receive bragging rights for the rest of the year. Thank you to the faculty for showing us your enthusiasm and for making this halloween so memorable and fun. Congratulations to the gym teachers!
