The 2022-2023 school year is coming to an end, as thoughts of graduation and summer are already on our minds. This year has been full of ups and downs, just like any other year, but nostalgic memories have been made, especially as peer leaders of PEN. We asked each member to share their closing sentiments on being a PEN peer leader.
Arnav A. - Being a part of PEN was a great experience for me as I got to interact with others while working with my peers.
Madeline A. - It was a great experience where I would wind down after school and put my creativity to the test.
Anvi A. - As a part of an influential peer leader group at MIllburn Middle School, my creativity and editing skills improved substantially through posting on social media and writing articles for PenPoint.
Driti A. - I was able to increase exposure to various types of media, along with sharpening my skills as a writer.
Aden B. - I learned how to be social around other students and to work collaboratively on multiple projects during the year.
Eva D. - My experience of being a PEN peer leader was overall really positive. It incorporated lots of collaboration which allowed me to work with my peers in a variety of roles that I took on.
Naomi H. - I gained some new friends and I had a lot of fun writing articles.
Ayati J. - I loved being able to write about topics that I personally wanted to write about. I had the freedom to choose and express myself through subjects that mattered to me.
Michelle L. - PEN was an insightful experience that improved my writing skills, while simultaneously informing my peers of school news and events that were taking place around the world.
Lenya M. - Being a PEN peer leader was a fun experience that gave a lot of insight into the true life of a writer.
Liam M. - Being a peer leader came with many challenges and responsibilities, and through them, I learned to be an overall better person.
Maddax S. - I loved how being a PEN peer leader allowed for creative freedom through different types of approaches of writing.
Olivia S. - It was truly inspiring to write articles and post for the community where I was able to get information out to the community.
Zainab T. - Being a PEN peer leader taught me responsibility to be able to work on articles outside of our meetings and stay up to date with school news.
Grace Y. - Writing articles was a lot of fun and it was an opportunity to learn more about current events that were happening around the world, as well as the responsibilities that I held as a peer leader.
Ela Z. - I had a sense of belonging as I forged new friendships and interactions with people around me.
We want to say thank you for everyone's continuous support and encouragement throughout the year. We are grateful to have had the opportunities and experiences of being able to communicate the student voices of Millburn Middle School to the rest of our school community. Although this will be one of the last articles from this year’s PEN peer leaders,
we hope that it will not be the last of PenPoint!
