Next week, there will be a very important event in our school. From October 6-10, Millburn Middle School is in the Week of Respect. The purpose of this week-long event is to spread the message of appreciating everyone. This year, the theme is Words Matter. Peer leaders will convey the message that words can hurt, and to respect yourself and others in study hall lessons on Monday, October 6, and Wednesday, October 8th, for 6th graders. They will use an activity to engage students and then have a reflection at the end.
WAVE and CORE 8 peer leaders will lead this event, featuring theme days every day next week and corresponding clothes or outfits to wear. Schoolwide, this will be an opportunity to learn and develop leadership qualities while demonstrating school spirit.
Theme Days
Monday, October 6 - Picture Perfect (dress nicely)
Tuesday, October 7 - Respect is our Superpower (dress as a favorite superhero)
Wednesday, October 8 - Celebrate our Differences (wear mismatched clothing)
Thursday, October 9 - Band Together/Team Up Against Bullying (wear a favorite band shirt or sports team jersey)
Friday, October 10 - School Spirit (wear Millburn blue and white)
"Respect is like a ripple — small actions spread far and wide."
