To exemplify the stupendous Middle School Musical of the year 2022-23, we offer an article presenting both viewpoints of this performance: the ACTOR and the AUDIENCE.
ACTOR:
The lights scintillated brightly and as the curtain split, consternation and trepidation bubbled up inside of me. When I finally entered stage right, little by little, the worry dissipated. But as I stood on that stage, I remembered all of the work that it took to finally get here. That play that thousands of people saw took months of preparation and dedication. Our first-rate director, Ms. Saxton, and the industrious cast members were put through days of excruciating stress as the play loomed upon us and even months beforehand. Though the incessant fun and excitement, along with the alluring friendships that were forged, made this an unforgettable and enjoyable experience. Then I recalled my fondest memory of the play: the first day when we began our rehearsal by dancing the infamous song “We’re All In This Together.” My thoughts returned to the stage and looking out on the audience; feeling that sense of achievement and genuine joy.
AUDIENCE:
The crowd was surging into the hallway with escalating anticipation. Some were parents, filled with pride and joy for they had the ability to admire their children as they stole the show in front of a full-house audience. Some were fellow students that were equally looking forward as much to seeing their friends and classmates perform for them. As the lights finally dimmed and the curtains opened, the audience fell silent in wait for a performance. Through intermission, song after song, and dance after dance, the actors on stage continued to surprise and impress the audience with their performance. As the performance continued, the crowd’s enjoyment was increasing, and by the end of the performance, the staging left them in awe and satisfaction. One thing that can be said is that the audience was proud of Millburn Middle School for this performance.
