Description: This half-year course furthers students knowledge of the elements of art and principles of design through hands-on exploration of printmaking, collage, and mixed media. Students will learn and apply a range of printmaking techniques including linoleum block, monoprint, stencil, silkscreen, etching, and collagraph processes—while developing strong craftsmanship and personal expression. Digital tools will also be incorporated to expand students’ understanding of contemporary printmaking practices.
Throughout the course, students will examine the historical significance of printmaking and its impact on visual culture. They will reference these artistic traditions as they create original works that connect past and present approaches to the art form.
