Description:  This course will present students with basic and extended lessons in drawing and painting. Studies will include color theory, composition and the use of a variety of mediums. Students will learn how to draw representational images of the figure and objects in light and space. Skills will be developed in but not limited to, pencil, pen and ink, charcoal, pastel, watercolor and acrylic. Students will draw and paint from life, from references and in open air. The study of past and contemporary artists will be introduced throughout the course. Students will be encouraged to explore media and to develop individual styles.  Work from this class may help students build a more qualified and varied portfolio.
