Description:  The purpose of health education is to provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to achieve and maintain personal wellness throughout their lifespan. Through a comprehensive, multimedia curriculum that includes community connections, guest speakers and interactive presentations, students are encouraged to take ownership of their lives by learning to set goals and to make positive decisions. Course topics will include: mental, social and emotional health, nutrition and fitness, destructive decisions including drug addiction and substance abuse prevention, chronic and communicable disease, comprehensive sexuality education, parenting and teen dating violence prevention. Students will be assessed through unit quizzes, student projects, current event presentations, poster projects, and in-class/homework assignments.  All students are required to take health education as part of the graduation requirement.
