PHOTOGRAPHY: DARKROOM TO DIGITAL  - 08220 - 1 CREDIT

Description:  This is a full-year course that explores both traditional film and digital photographic techniques.  Students will become familiar with the technical aspects of photography while creating strong compositions with good exposures.  Students will work with a range of film cameras.  Students will learn darkroom film development and printing, as well as display techniques for photographs.  Digital photography will include Photoshop for digital manipulation of images.  Students will utilize a variety of techniques and new technologies through apps and software to correct, alter or embellish digital images.  Emphasis will be placed on photography as an art form.  Each student will maintain a traditional and digital portfolio of their images.  Students will be required to have a working 35mm film camera and a smartphone or digital camera.  A material fee will be collected at the start of class.
