Description: What if superheroes were real? Will A.I. take over the world? Am I living in a computer simulation? These are just some of the questions we will explore in Science Fiction, using this popular genre as a lens with which to look at the big issues facing humanity today. The course will begin with an intensive study of Alan Moore’s seminal graphic novel Watchmen. Then, students will select books and short stories for group study while using film, television, podcasts, and other forms of media to dive into specific topics in Science Fiction. There will also be many opportunities for developing research and creative writing skills in this genre.
