COLLEGE ACCOUNTING  - 03600 - 1 CREDIT

Prerequisite:  Credit in Algebra and a strong foundation in Algebra needed

Credit: Math

Description:  This course provides an introduction to the nature of accounting, the development of accounting standards, the accounting system, preparation and analysis of external reports, and career opportunities for accounting educated individuals.  Students that successfully complete this course can obtain 4 credits from Westchester Community College at a reduced tuition. 

COLLEGE STATISTICS  - 03615 - 1 CREDIT

Prerequisite: Credit in Algebra and a strong foundation in Algebra needed

Credit: Math

Description: A general introduction to statistical methods for students in all academic disciplines.  Topics include:  descriptive methods and the presentation of data, probability, statistical inference and decision making through hypothesis testing, correlation and regression analysis, and the application of nonparametric methods in various subject areas.  Students that successfully complete this course can obtain 4 credits from Westchester Community College at a reduced tuition. Students may also register to take the Advanced Placement exam on a walk-on basis. COLLEGE PRE-CALCULUS 100  - 03404 - 1 CREDIT

Prerequisite: Credit in Algebra II

Credit: Math

Description: This course continues the integration of topics already studied while preparing students for the rigors of college calculus.  Topics studied include matrices, trigonometry, polar, exponential, and logarithmic functions as well as sequences & series, conic sections, and limits.  Graphing calculator applications will be integrated throughout the course.  Students in this course will be eligible to participate in The University in the High School Program in conjunction with SUNY Albany.  Students that successfully complete this course can obtain as many as 3 credits from SUNY Albany at a reduced tuition.  

COLLEGE PRE-CALCULUS 101  - 03406 - 1 CREDIT

Prerequisite:  Credit in Algebra II Honors with Teacher Recommendation

Credit: Math

Description:  This class is designed for juniors who are determined to pursue an extremely rigorous AP Calculus AB or BC course their senior year.  The curriculum for the first semester of this course will cover topics studied in traditional Pre-Calculus courses.  In the second semester, students will begin the extensive study of the Calculus curriculum.  If students successfully complete this course, they will then move on to AP Calculus AB or BC their senior year.  Students in this course will be eligible to participate in The University in the High School Program in conjunction with SUNY Albany.  Students that successfully complete this course can obtain as many as 3 credits from SUNY Albany at a reduced tuition.  

ADVANCED PLACEMENT CALCULUS AB  - 03605 - 1 CREDIT

Prerequisite: Credit in Pre-Calculus 101

Credit: Math

Description: An Advanced Placement course in Calculus AB consists of a full school year of work that is comparable to calculus courses in colleges and universities.  It is expected that students who take a course in AP Calculus will seek college credit, preferential college placement, or both, from institutions of higher learning.  The Calculus AB curriculum includes a rigorous study of functions, graphs, limits, derivatives, integrals, and their applications.  Graphing utility technology is an important component of the course.  Students are required to take the Advanced Placement exam which is given in early May.  For information regarding AP exam dates and fees, please visit the College Board website at http://www.collegeboard.org  

ADVANCED PLACEMENT CALCULUS BC  - 03610 - 1 CREDIT

Prerequisite: Credit in Pre-Calculus 101 with Teacher Recommendation.

Description: Calculus BC is the most rigorous calculus course offered by the College Board.  Participants must be willing to pursue mathematical excellence and should, therefore, earn college credit and preferential placement from highly accredited colleges and universities.  The BC curriculum includes more depth of study and many topics beyond those offered in AB Calculus, including parametric, polar and vector functions, polynomial approximations and series, and numerous additional applications of the derivative and integral.  Students are required to take the AP exam which is offered in early May.  For information regarding AP exam dates and fees, please visit the College Board website at http://www.collegeboard.org

Prerequisite: Credit in Pre-Calculus 100 or 101
