Description: This class fulfills the arts graduation requirement and is offered to grades 9, 10, 11 & 12. Studio Art is the prerequisite for all art classes and is a year-long course that covers the elements and principles of design through a wide variety of mediums and materials. It is a comprehensive foundation course that aims to promote four kinds of learning: 1) Learning to be aesthetically aware and sensitive to a broad range of visual forms. 2) Learning from works of art through art criticism. 3) Learning about works of art through art history. 4) Learning the skills, concepts and techniques for art making; to free the imagination and enhance creativity. Students will demonstrate knowledge and creativity to produce artworks including; drawing, painting, design, sculpture, computer graphics and animation.
