Program Description

Art education is an essential component of human development. Through Visual Art, students are empowered to be creative, “out of the box” thinkers and conscious designers. Students learn to discover and express who they are; communicate their ideas, understand the visual, cultural, as well as the virtual world. Learn to make connections and develop an increasing sense of personal aesthetic. Our art program offers a variety of elective courses, both for art majors and for those wishing to take art to increase their appreciation of specific topics. Emphasis will be placed on fine arts, and visual communication including advertising design, graphic design, pottery, photography, drawing, painting, sculpture, art history. AP classes are offered for those students who are planning to continue art after high school. One credit of Visual Arts meets the graduation requirement. One way to earn an Advanced Regents Diploma is for students to pursue a 5 unit sequence in the Arts.
