COLLEGE HEALTH EDUCATION - 07317 - 1/2 CREDIT (SEM)
Prerequisite: Health. Open to students in grades 11-12
Credit: Elective
Description: Students will receive instruction in college-level health content along with a rigorous and in-depth exploration of special topics in the health sciences. Special topics will include: Ethical and Legal Issues in Health, Critical Thinking, Health Equity, Disparities, and Health Care Reform, Public Health Advocacy, and Health-Related Career Opportunities. This course is designed for academically focused and motivated students interested in pursuing a career in the health or human service fields. Content and standards are guided by the HPW: Health Promotion and Wellness course offered at Farmingdale State College. Students that successfully complete this course can obtain as many as 3 credits from Farmingdale State College at a reduced tuition. Enrollment in this course is only open to juniors and seniors that have successfully completed Health 07300 or Health 07310.
