Recording Techniques/Digital Video Production

Students taking any of our Music Technology courses will be immersed in a real-world experience, using leading-edge technology and software from the audio and video industries.  These courses are primarily project based, with an emphasis on hands-on learning and real application of knowledge.

RECORDING TECHNIQUES I  - 09605 - 1/2 CREDIT (SEM)

Prerequisite: Open to students in grades 10-12

Credit: Music

Description: This half year project-based course will introduce students to modern audio production and the recording studio.  If you want to learn how to create beats and record your own music, then this is the class for you.  Students will use online tools to create their own music, and learn the basics of recording in our cutting edge studio.  Open to all, no musical experience necessary.

DIGITAL VIDEO PRODUCTION I   - 09615 - 1/2 CREDIT (SEM)

Prerequisite: None

Credit: Music

Description: This half year project-based course focuses on the skills and tools needed for modern video production.  Students will work in small production teams to complete projects ranging from a short silent film, to a TV commercial, to a fully produced music video.  Topics covered will include basic camera operation, pre-production planning. editing techniques, and on-location filming.  Open to all, no experience necessary.
