GEOMETRY REGENTS  - 03206 - 1 CREDIT

Prerequisite: Credit in Algebra I and a passing score on the Algebra I Common Core Regents*

Credit: Math

Description: Topics of instruction are Constructions, Transformations, Congruence, Similarity, Right Triangles, Quadrilaterals, Circles, Geometric Properties with Equations, Geometric Measurement and Dimension, Modeling with Geometry and Mathematical Practices.  All students will take the Geometry Common Core Regents Examination.  Successful completion of this course will allow a student to take Integrated Algebra II or Algebra II the following year.  The Math Department encourages all students to own a TI-83 plus or TI-84 plus graphing calculator.

GEOMETRY HONORS  - 03211 - 1 CREDIT

Prerequisite:   Teacher Recommendation

Credit: Math

Description: Students generally experience success in this class if they are motivated, organized and committed to the high expectations of an honors level course. Topics of instruction will include Constructions, Similarity, Right Triangles, Trigonometry, Circles, Geometric Properties with Equations, Geometric Measurement and Dimension, Modeling with Geometry and Mathematical Practices. The instruction will be rigorous and the pace will be challenging. All students will take the Geometry Common Core Examination. Successful completion of this course will allow a student to take Algebra II Honors the following year.
