As I look back on my time at David Brearley, I feel incredibly grateful for all the experiences I have had. Through my involvement in clubs like the Thrive Club, Spanish Club, Newspaper Club, and many others, I met new people from different grade levels and became more involved in our school community. I was also fortunate to travel on field trips to special landmarks in New York and to attend student conferences for clubs. Each experience taught me something different and helped shape my high school years for the better.
If I had to choose a favorite memory, it would be Hispanic Heritage Night. Every year I look forward to helping plan and support this event during Hispanic Heritage Month. Seeing our school and the Kenilworth community come together to celebrate Hispanic culture through food, music, dance, and student presentations is inspiring to me. The event is always filled with vibrant energy and pride, and I believe it serves as a reminder of how important it is for our community to come together and learn from one another about culture and identity.
Along with many positive experiences, I learned several important lessons in high school. One of the biggest lessons was the importance of motivation. Intrinsic motivation has always been one of my greatest strengths. My drive to achieve my goals and my desire to do well pushed me through some of the most challenging moments of my academic career. Whether I was completing a difficult paper in AP English or tackling frustrating concepts in chemistry or physics, I concluded that success comes from staying committed even when things become difficult. The effort you put in today to challenge yourself and stay motivated for your goals can open doors tomorrow. Looking back, every challenge, opportunity, and memory has been worthwhile, and I am thankful for the experiences that made my time at David Brearley so meaningful.
