Upcoming Model UN Conference
By Bryanna Rivera
Model UN is a new club at Brearley, but it won’t fall behind the other clubs in rigor. Despite being founded this year, DBHS MUN is off to a great start and is heading to its first conference. On March 21, 2026, our MUN team will travel to North Brunswick to participate in the school’s annual conference.
NBTHSMUNC, the school’s seventh annual conference, offers a rigorous, insightful, and exhilarating experience. The club and conference are dedicated to communication, diplomacy, research, debate, and more. They host delegates from across the tri‑state area in four committees: the Social, Humanitarian, and Cultural Committee (SOCHUM); the United Nations Historical Committee (UNHC); the United Nations Human Rights Council (Specialized); and the Crisis Committee. All four lively committees address interesting and widely recognized issues. For example, one of the most pressing issues being discussed by SOCHUM delegates is establishing legal protections for undocumented immigrants. Another topic UNHC will discuss is displacement related to the Holocaust more than 50 years ago.
While MUN conferences are fast‑paced and challenging, the Brearley MUN team is working hard to prepare and hopes to return to Kenilworth with an award. The MUN executive board is diligently preparing club members despite not having attended a conference themselves. Four members of the executive board will attend an earlier conference to gain experience and offer advice to other members.
The MUN team is a committed group of students willing to go above and beyond to represent our school diplomatically and professionally. Encourage the team to do their best. There will be frequent updates on the MUN Instagram page; follow them at @dbhsmun to watch our members showcase their efforts.
