Boys Soccer Season Update

Since the beginning of the season, the varsity Brearley boys' soccer team has demonstrated immense dedication and persistence in achieving individual and team goals. Even though the season hasn’t gone the way that many had hoped, the boys sit at 3-5 but are 3-3 in conference play under head coach Mr. McGowan. The boys had key, overwhelming victories over Hillside (4-1) and Roselle (5-2).

Despite not receiving the results they wanted, the boys have shown a lot of perseverance, with key contributors on both sides of the ball. Offensively, senior Guilherme Santos Silva has netted the most goals for the Bears, with 6 goals thus far, and junior Yandel Huerta Hernandez has also been a good contributor, with 4 assists. The back line is also disciplined, led by senior Logan Pires and junior Aaden Pereira. Though not all are mentioned, each player on the team has shown skills both offensively and defensively, regardless of the position played.
With a recent tough loss to Plainfield, the boys look to turn it around, with the county and state tournaments and senior night upcoming. Senior night for the boys will be October 20th at 6:00 against ALJ, so show up to support. As we start these competitive games, remind yourself of the dedication and teamwork the boys have put in this year, through our support, to strengthen our school and athletic programs. Don't miss your chance to support the David Brearley boys as they showcase their talent in their next game!
