Album Recommendations

Over the past year, many artists have released great albums. If you're looking for new music, there's a lot to choose from. Below are some of my favorite recent albums across a variety of genres.
“Piss in the Wind” by Joji — For Japanese-Australian singer-songwriter Joji, this is his fourth studio album; it was released on February 6. This is his first album release since leaving his former label, 88rising. The album explores themes of love, loss, and the quiet reckoning following heartbreak through blends of lo-fi, trip-hop, and R&B. If introspective music is your thing, this one comes highly recommended.
“Hurry Up Tomorrow” by The Weeknd — A relaxing synth-pop album. Abel Tesfaye (performing as The Weeknd) released his sixth and final album on January 31, 2025. The album is a hit in part because it features many surprising guest artists, from Travis Scott to Lana Del Rey. After being out for roughly a year, it has topped charts in countries such as Canada, France, Norway, Belgium, Australia, the UK, and New Zealand. He’s an inspirational artist to listen to, and if you love synth-pop, he’s for you.
“Icon” by Brent Faiyaz — Brent Faiyaz is another accomplished R&B artist. He released his third album on February 13; it has more mature, romantic themes compared to his earlier, more toxic work. Brent Faiyaz combines classic soul with a modern, electronically tinged R&B sound. The album focuses on introspection, vulnerability, and love, with less manipulative lyricism than his past releases. If this style inspires you, plug in your headphones—this is a fresh, worthwhile direction for Brent Faiyaz.
