Spring Track Update

The Brearley track team kicked off a strong start to the spring season with several key wins. The most triumphant was at Rebel Relays, where Brearley dominated: the girls took first place with 105 points, and the boys also took first with 66, both in Division 1.
There were several individual standouts at the Union County Relays. Jeidy Bunay finished fourth in the girls' 400 m hurdles final with a time of 1:08.94, and senior Enrique Corona ran 57.95 in the boys' 400 m hurdles to take third place. In the boys' pole vault, Carter Stein cleared 11 ft to take third place, and Chase Payne finished 10th, clearing 9 ft. In the girls' throwing events, Mackenzie Pierce threw 102 ft in the discus final and placed third in the shot put with a throw of 34 ft. Additionally, Mackenzie Seifried threw a PR of 95 ft in the varsity girls' javelin final.
The most recent meet was the Carnival hosted at Kearney on Saturday, April 18. The Brearley girls dominated that meet, taking the overall girls' championship. Monroe Passmore placed in the top four in both the boys' 100 m and 200 m dash finals. In the varsity boys' triple jump final, Josiah Bilewu took first place with a jump of 37 ft, 8.25 in.
The track team was also featured on MileSplit, representing Brearley and interviewed about their breakthrough season, which they traced to hard work and dedication. Brearley’s next meet is away at New Providence for a tri-meet versus New Providence and Governor Livingston. The following Saturday is the Randolph Relays at Randolph High School, where the Bears hope to secure another win. Go support the Brearley track team — Go Bears!
