This is an Algebra II course paired with a CTE course
Algebra 2 Sustain (A2S) is a new program in Jeffco that follows the same foundational components as the successful AMPED on Algebra and Geometry in Construction programs and strives to answer the age-old question in math, “When am I ever going to use this?” Algebra 2 Sustain follows the Algebra 2 district approved curriculum and counts as a third year graduation requirement. Through a contextual lens of sustainability and natural resources, students investigate traditional topics covered in Algebra 2. For example, students will explore exponential and logarithmic functions by vermicomposting, rational functions in irrigation systems and food preservation, polynomials through companion planting, and trigonometric functions via plant growth cycles. Students analyze data and develop mathematical models to address real world situations while considering economic, social, and environmental impacts.
