Happy Friday!
Unfortunately, we are closed today—our heating system decided it needed a break. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding. Stay warm and have a wonderful day.
🌟 Stay, Play and Learn
Thank you to all the families who took part in our Stay, Play, and Learn session. We really appreciate your feedback and your contributions to our floorbook and learning profiles.
🌾Farm
The children have been busy planting daffodil bulbs on the farm. We’re looking forward to seeing the daffodils bloom in spring, when we plan to harvest and deliver them to members of our local community to spread some sunshine.
📚 Book Week Scotland
Book Week Scotland is an annual celebration of books, stories, and the joy of reading. Across the country, people of all ages will be coming together to share their love of books and discover new stories to enjoy.
To mark the week, our school will be taking part in a fun reading competition.
📸 Children are invited to take a photo of themselves reading in an interesting or unusual place — it could be in the garden, at the park, in a cosy fort, or even under the kitchen table! More information will be posted on Google Classroom.
The most creative entry will win a £10 book token to spend on a book of their choice.
In addition, our ELC and P1–3 children will each receive their Bookbug Bags, full of lovely books and resources to encourage reading and storytelling at home.
Let’s celebrate the power of reading and share the message that every place can be a reading place!
🩺 Medical Update
Letters have recently been sent home to parents and carers of pupils recorded on SEEMIS as having asthma. If your child uses an inhaler at school but you have not received a letter, please contact the school office. It’s important that we have an up-to-date record of your child’s condition and that the correct forms are completed. Forms can be collected from the office.
🎨 School Booklet Front Cover Competition
The Central Rights UNite Team is excited to announce a Front Cover Design Competition for our school booklet.
We’re inviting all pupils to get creative and design a front cover that represents what makes our school wonderful. Your design should include the school name, picture(s) and show what makes Central special.
The group discussed some ideas to include such as :
• Friendship
• Safe, Mindful, Aspirational
• Central is over 200 years old
There will be a prize for the winning design, and the winning artwork will be featured on the front cover of our school booklet.
We will choose a winner from Early (ELC and P1), First (P2,3 and 4) and Second (P5, 6 and 7). They will receive a prize. The winning cover from each will then go to a school vote to choose our winning design.
Entries should be brought to school on or before Friday 28th November. Please write your name and class on your design.
Show your creativity and pride in our school — we can’t wait to see your designs!

This supports the UNCRC Articles 12, 29 and 31 — recognising children’s right to be heard, to develop their talents and abilities to the full, and to take part in activities they enjoy.
🏠 Home School Partnership Learning
Article 6 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) says that:
Every child has the right to life, and governments must do all they can to ensure that children survive and develop to their full potential.
This means that children have the right not only to live, but also to grow up healthy, safe, and supported—physically, emotionally, socially, and academically.
Research:
Look up how different countries support children’s survival and development—for example, through access to clean water, healthcare, or education.
Choose one country and compare how children’s rights to survive and develop are supported there versus in Scotland.
Discuss similarities and differences—what can we learn from other countries, and what are we proud of here in Scotland?
