Happy Thursday!
A huge congratulations to all the pupils, staff, and families of Central School — we are proud to announce that we are now officially recognised as a UNICEF UK Silver: Rights Aware School!
This award reflects the incredible work across our school community to promote children’s rights, respect, and global citizenship. It celebrates our commitment to creating a safe, inclusive environment where every voice is heard and valued.
Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this achievement — especially our pupils, who continue to show kindness, responsibility, and a deep understanding of their rights and the rights of others.
Let’s keep building on this success as we work towards Gold!
🚪 Gate Reminder
Please do not leave the wee gate open. For the safety of all our pupils, the gate must remain closed at all times.
When closing the gate, please do not slide the latch over. The latch interferes with the automatic release mechanism and can cause it to malfunction.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in keeping everyone safe.
📵 Mobile Phones
A reminder to all pupils and parents that mobile phones are not permitted to be used once pupils enter the school grounds. Phones must be switched off. This helps us maintain a focused and respectful learning environment for everyone. Thank you for your support.
👥 Parent Council Meeting
The next parent council meeting is being held at 09:15 on 30th May in the community room (next to the hall).
This is an open invitation. The parent council works with the school to build strong, positive relationships.
We look forward to seeing as many parents/carers as possible attending.
🏫 Primary Ones 2025/2026
We are looking forward to welcoming all our new P1's into school in August. Parents/carers of new P1 children are invited to attend an information session in the infant area on 5th June at 3.15 pm.
🏠 Home School Partnership Learning
As part of our ongoing commitment to children’s rights, we are highlighting Article 38 of the UNCRC, which ensures that children are protected from the impacts of armed conflict.
We encourage you to take part in some meaningful activities at home to explore these important themes with your child:
1. Create a Peace Poster
Encourage your child to create a peace poster that reflects the values of safety, respect, and kindness. This activity allows children to creatively express their understanding of global issues, especially how conflict affects children around the world.
2. Watch a Documentary Together
Choose a child-friendly documentary or video that highlights global issues, such as the impact of conflict on children or how children are working to improve their communities. After watching, discuss what your child learned and how they feel about the issues raised. This will help them develop a deeper understanding of the world around them.
By doing these activities together, we can help our children gain a greater appreciation for their rights and the importance of creating a safer, more peaceful world.
Wishing you a lovely, restful weekend.
